Playing the Soundbites

Most of the soundbites at this site are in MPEG Layer II format (".mp2 files"). We have chosen this format because it offers excellent sound quality (16 bit, CD sampling rate if your computer can produce this) in a compact, relatively quick-downloading file. MPEG players are available for free for all major platforms; if you don't have one, here are a few sites where you can find players and further MPEG information:

The soundbites from the Barbara Kessler Live cassette are in the poorer quality but simpler "AU" format. Most computers with sound capability can play these files, though they sound little better than a phone conversation.
