I prefer the 9th fret on the D string because it lets you hold the bass note while the last 3 notes in the measure ring out. Verse: play the intro again, then: Bsus2 A A/C# g#m ---|-------------|-------0-----|-------0-------|--------------|--------------- -3-|-----0-------|-------------|---------------|--------------|--------------- ---|---6-------6-|-----0-------|-----0---------|-------6------|---------4h6--- -4-|---------7---|---0---------|---0-----------|-----4----4---|-----4h7------- ---|-0-----7-----|-------------|-2-------------|---4----------|-4h7----------- ---|-------------|-5-----------|---------------|-4------------|--------------- F#sus4 F# E69 D A bm A -----------------|-------------|-------------0-|------------|-------------|-| -----------------|-------------|-----------0---|-5---3---1--|-0-----------|-| ---------2-------|-2p1---------|---------2-----|-5---4---2--|-0-----------|-| -----2-4---------|-----2-------|-----0h2-------|------------|-------------|-| ---2-------------|-------------|---0-----------|(3)-(2)-(0)-|-------------|-| -2---------------|-------------|-0-------------|------------|(5)----------|-| Then repeat the intro, verse, then the intro (2 bars only) and right into the chorus: D (strum chords here) A/C# C -2---------|-----------|-0----------|----------|-0-----------|--------------| -1---------|-----------|-0----------|----------|-3-----------|--------------| -0---------|-----------|-0----------|----------|-3-----------|--------------| -----------|-----------|-0----------|----------|-0-----------|--------------| -3---------|-----------|-2----------|----------|-1-----------|--------------| -----------|-----------|------------|----------|-------------|----------0-1-| D/F# G am/G (strum----->) -------------|-------------|-------------|-5---------|-----------| -------1-----|-------------|-------------|-3---------|-----------| -----0---0---|-------2-----|-------2-----|-4---------|-----------| ---2-------2-|-----3---3---|-----3---3---|-----------|-----------| -------------|---0-------0-|---0-------0-|-----------|-----------| -2-----------|-3-----------|-3-----------|-3---------|-----------| D E/D D E/D D E/D D F/D G/D -2---------|-4--------|-5-------|-7------|-5-----|-7-----|-5-----|-5---7----|- -1---------|-3--------|-5-------|-7------|-5-----|-7-----|-5-----|-4---6----|- -0---------|-2--------|-5-------|-7------|-5-----|-7-----|-5-----|-3---5----|- -----------|----------|---------|--------|-------|-------|-------|----------|- -3---------|-3--------|-3-------|--------|-3-----|-------|-3-----|-3--------|- -----------|----------|---------|--------|-------|-------|-------|----------|- F/D G/D F/D G/D A/D (strum-->arpeggiate) -5------|-7------|-5------|-7------|-9-----------------9---9---| -4------|-6------|-4------|-6------|-8---------------8---8-----| -3------|-5------|-3------|-5------|-7-------------------------| --------|--------|--------|--------|---------------------------| -3------|-3------|-3------|-3------|---------------------------| --------|--------|--------|--------|---------------------------| -2-h3-p2-p0----------------------| ------------1--------------------| --------------0------------------| 1st time: back to the intro/verse/chorus ----------------2-p0----2-0--3-2-| (3)------------------3-----------| 2nd time: repeat intro till fade ---------------------------------| The bass pedals on D for the last half of the chorus. It sounds like Phil plays chords on the upper three strings while the bass covers the anchor D. It's possible in a few of the chords to hold the D note, but good luck on the A/D! For the lick at the end of the chorus, I find it easiest to finger the 1st fret B string while playing the trill on the high D string. ---------------------------------------------------- Brian O'Sullivan brianos *AtSign* ziplink.net Columbia, MD http://www.ziplink.net/~brianos
